Art Basel kicking off this weekend proves that fashion is art and brings to Miami number of great fashion venues, in addition to some of the best art exhibits worldwide. And what is on the ‘fashion’ menu?
Starting on Sunday with the VIP reception of ‘The Iconic Archive’, as The Art of the Fashion Show in Adrienne Arsht Center of the Performing Arts opens a costume exhibition inspired by the style icons of our history such as Frida Kahlo, Celia Cruz and Elizabeth Taylor, featuring designs of the most influential fashion houses including Chanel, Alexander McQueen, Christian Dior and Pucci.
On Monday, Cindy Crawford’s fans can join in exclusive preview of the best photoshoots from her modeling career by world renowned fashion photographer, Marco Gaviano, during the reception hosted by the artist himself, at Art Miami’s Cindy Crawford lounge.
Tuesday will bring BAZAAR to Soho Beach House. A successful SHOP BAZAAR pop-up experience piloted in 2012 will be followed by yearly reception of the Vanity Fair magazine and MOCA (Museum of Contemporary Art).
Wednesday afternoon will offer the opening of the ethical fashion pop-up ‘Maison Du Mode’ by model Amanda Hearst and designer Hassan Pierre in Soho Beach House.
An evening in newly opened Perez Museum of Modern Art will mark the premier of short film ‘Suspension of Disbelief’ starring supermodel Kristen McMenamy (left), hosted by W magazine editor-in-chief Stefano Tonchi and creative director of fashion label Vionnet.
On Thursday fashion house Maison Martin Margiela (bellow) and Atelier Swarovski will host a private cocktail reception to present their new collection ‘Crystalactite’ and celebrate the debut of ‘Stalker’, an exclusive installation by French artist Baptiste Debombourg.
