MIAMI Swim Fashion Week 2014: Nanette Lepore

NANETTE LEPORE known for bold colors, evocative prints and signature silhouettes has always been one of my favorite designers.  After years of buying her newest collections as soon as they appeared in the stores, and frequently wearing her designs for their perfect fit to my personal style, I met Nanette at the fashion function last year. Her down to earth friendly personality and big smile instantly spoke to me, as she shared her story…Ohio born designer started with the dream and 5000$ loan from her father when she first moved to NYC, but her talent and determination brought her success and growth already in few years in fashion business and brand rapidly gained many followers, currently being a leading name in contemporary American fashion…Her Swim 2014 presentation was full of prints, colors, and my favorite neons didn’t miss, as well!..SLS hotel poolside was packed with lounging hotel guests, photographers and reporters, moving to the house music beats while snapping photos of smiling models showing-off the latest Nanette’s designs on the floating runway… Nanette Lepore neon jacket and platform sandals from her collection, mixed with Modiste’s designed gold high waist shorts that I wore to her presentation, made a perfect neon-power combo and brought Nanette big smile when we met after the show for a quick chat….

And as the ‘rush’ of the fashion week subsided, Nanette and I met in a very relaxed setting of her store to talk about the inspiration, process of the design, the operation behind the scenes, the work of her creative team, the vision and the DNA of the brand… I got the luxury of a very personal tour, with Nanette walking me trough her Summer collection pieces, explaining their stories one by one…
Can’t wait for the latests runway ‘SWIM’ styles from my favorite lady of American fashion appear in the stores coming season. I know, I will be ‘camping’ at the door!
